More Doodles

Just some stuff I'm working on...all works in progress...

Penciled drawing... isn't she beautiful? I love her eyes.  Sometimes, I'm afraid to ink in my penciled work because I think I'll ruin it.  Do you sometimes feel that way?
Here she is partially inked in....I still haven't touched the face..quite unsure of how to go about rendering the rest, I'll just play along and let it be a surprise :)

Here's the story behind this.  One day, I was on my way out to deliver a book to a client.  I had a cab called and while waiting for the cab to arrive just sat on my couch and started doing blind contour drawings of anything I could set my eyes on in the room.  Little Miss Potts was the first (she is actually a jug of sorts, but she does sort of look like Mrs Potts in Beauty & the Beast, unintentional of course).  The Worried TV was next, hehe..  my cab arrived.  I wanted to continue drawing in the cab and so I pulled an image out of my mind (maybe the cab driver looked liked that? I dunno?),  but little hairy creature was born.  Ok, like 5 minutes of drawing or doing anything in a moving vehicle is all I could handle (I get dizzy).  I continue the drawing when I get home, the bird is a small figurine I have, the lamp is on my desk and I've got this little blue housing for a hanging lamp sitting on my floor at the moment.  Just adding, and adding...I love pennants and so drew some.  My son was reading beside me and so I decided to sketch him in too.  And yeah, I really wanted a margarita that night but didn't have one (LOL!).  I plan to add some color to this, what do you think?

You Are Enough

Some serious doodling here, and enjoyed every minute of it.  Just the break I needed to fulfill my thirst for some "me-time" doodling which I have not done for what seems like ages. Being that most of the stuff I do is work/client related - it's just not the same.

Inspired by Tracy Clark's "I Am Enough", a self-kindness collaborative.  I started this a month ago, just painting the bird and the words, "You are Enough" and finally finishing it the other day on some much needed self-imposed "me-time".

Drawn on 9" x 11" Acid Free Canson Watercolor pad using watercolors, pigma micron pens, color markers and color pencils.

YES, YOU are Enough.
This is the scanned copy, wouldn't it
look lovely on your wall?

Just For Fun

Just a little night time, free flow doodling in bed last week on an old planner converted into a journal of sorts.  Trying out the caran d'ache watercolor crayons, stuff from my art box and some DIY stencils and alcohol spray inks ;)

Just playing and having fun and trying to see where this will go....

On the opposite page I sprayed my punched stencils (I don't have those punchanella strips and so I punched out a small strip of cardboard paper and hand cut the bigger circles - note to self to get those punchanella strips) with the alcohol ink I had available.  Those yellow flowers on the plant were blobs of spray ink that I outlined in black charcoal and just went crazy drawing twig like appendages.  The bird then came after...

Must do this again soon...

A Tale of Two Turtles

My kids brought home two Asian Box Turtles with them last summer after a short vacation in Roxas City.  It was given to them by one of their uncles.

Now that classes are underway, I have taken it my task to care for them while the kids are in school, making sure they have their daily dunk in the water (since their skins get so dry and scaly if they are in land all the time) and feeding them.

I have become attached to them, talking to them and petting them (they like being pet under their chin and on top of the head).  Yeah, I never realized but turtles are totally cute.  They're so cute, I doodled one.

They were named Leo and Fido.  The kids swore they were both male turtles, their uncle said so.  Leo belongs to Teo and Fido belongs to Enzo.  They even have personalities to match their owners, hahaha.

One day last week, Teo found a turtle egg in his room! It was quite funny because we thought all along that the turtles were both male.  Teo's turtle Leo was female!!!

"Mom, we now have to change Leo's name!"

Hello Leona!

And the turtle egg, is in a bed of leaves and soil...we started researching what to do...hopefully it survives.

Some Koi Doodles

Sharing some Koi drawings/doodles that a client asked me to make.  I made three Koi drawings for them to choose from.  The chosen drawing will be applied on a shirt as a line drawing.

This is the chosen drawing :)

 Here are the other drawings:

I'll post photos of the shirt once it's been produced.

Doodly doo

Just a doodle I did the other night while playing around with my watercolor pencils and markers.
I think this would look cute on some notebooks or journals like this one I played with in Photoshop:
I wonder where I could have this done?

March Art Journal Challenge

Joined the March Art Journal Challenge over at Art Journaling.Ning.  These are the mechanics: "Prompts will be posted, which could be one word, a material, technique or even a quote and the challenge is to use it in some manner in our art journal that day."

"The idea behind this is to jump start daily art journaling. The goal is to art journal daily but not necessarily to finish a page or spread every day, just to open the journal and work."

Week 1 prompts are as follows:
March 4th: "Doodle"
March 3rd: "Blue"
March 2nd: "Credit Card(s)"
March 1st: "Start Your Engines!"

I started some pages, they are by no means finished and I will continue to be working on them...

Blue:  (far, far from over..experimented with lace and sequins and beads,
ugh I don't know what I was thinking....)

Doodle: Uhm, yeah, I don't know where this is going yet..

And this is something I just doodled today while working,
maybe I'll play around with pastels and color her in.

And of course, that led to another...

And another...I kinda like her, she's cute :)

An image I drew for a wedding album I just finished creating, the art was inspired from an image I saw, gosh I went through all my bookmarks looking for the specific site and artist but it escapes me now - she draws doodles on shadows and I love, love, love the effect.  So created my own shadow looking girl - more like those main street silhouettes and doodled on her skirt and bodice to look like a wedding gown, with silver glitter gel pen.  This composition though is not how I used it for the album because I made it my own here with the journaling.

Journaling: I feel the little changes going click click click inside of me...they are even louder than they used to be.  It always feels this way when I am more in touch with my artistic soul.  Like so many windows are opening up inside me allowing my spirit to fly freely in and out.
